This cross is above the door to the Coleman-Morse building where I have been working in Campus Ministry this summer. |
This blog is journey of spiritual awareness. Combining my budding interest in photography and my faith, I am attempting to take a picture of a cross and post it each day. This can be a cross that is intended to be a representation of the Crucifixion or just one that happens to have occurred in life. It is my spiritual journey to be aware of the cross' presence literally every day of my life. Maybe it will offer you a new insight, awareness, or at least an interesting thing to look at.

Day 1 ~ The Journey Begins
So I saw this interview the other day of a photographer (Mark Hirsh, http://thattree.net/ or https://www.facebook.com/photosofthattree) who took a picture of this tree near to where he lived everyday with his iPhone. It was beautiful, both the pictures and the story. He had passed this amazing tree for 19 years before ever noticing it. Well, not to call myself a copy-cat (isn't inspiration the finest form of flattery or something like that?), but I thought about my fledgling desire to improve my photographic skills and my photographic eye, combined with my passion to live out my faith and came up with this idea: Take a picture of a cross each day and post it. I thought this could include crosses that are intended to be a symbol of Christ's cross or objects and perspectives that aren't intended to be Christ's cross, but nonetheless form the cross shape. In this way, I hope to bring a little of something artistic to the notion that Christ and Christ's love is all around us. I'm literally hoping to seek the cross and to share the cross daily. I hope you enjoy this endeavor and perhaps are able to see the love of Christ all around you in your life a little bit better because of this :-) Peace always, Mike.
